Brick Chamber of Commerce News
Platform For Progress
The Platform for Progress is a coalition of NJ businesses and
organizations working in partnership with the NJ State Chamber of
Commerce. The coalition was formed to address and bring solutions to
long-term challenges the state is facing in six key areas: Economic
Development, Education, Environment, Government Reform, Health Care
and Transportation. Our Chamber of Commerce has joined this
coalition because our leadership believes that these key areas
affect our members and their employees. If successfully addressed
through positive change, the impact of these solutions will be
enormous. If you would like additional information on this
initiative, we invite you to visit www.platformforprogress.com

Is Your Business Home-Based?
Do You Have a Friend or Neighbor Whose Business Is?
If the answer to either of these questions is yes, we have a special networking and support group that will help meet the challenges you face by working at home.
We have many members whose businesses are home-based and, because we recognized that they have some specific needs, we developed some special services for them. They enjoy the same benefits that all of our members do, but they also have meetings with their peers where they address topics of particular interest to them. They network with each other, learn, grow and support each other, all within the Chamber of Commerce.
Some comments on the benefits of joining this group.
Ellen Magnuson Shore Secretarial & Business Services says that it was very valuable when she first started her business because, “As a new person starting out, it gave me a ton of self-confidence that I could make this work and it gave me access to people who had been in this position and made it work.”
She adds that it continues to be important for her because, “I'm part of a group that has the same hurdles. It's different than sitting in an office where you can bounce things off other people. This group provides me with people where I can do that.”
NJ Biz ran this special feature in their January 30th publication. Interesting to note is that all the Chambers of Commerce receiving a higher ranking than we did are regional organizations (example: Chambers representing an entire county).
- Special Thanks
We know that we keep saying it, but it's true. Our members are the best! We'd like to take this opportunity to say thank you to:
Helen Peck and The Brick Township Communicator newspaper for providing us with a monthly column, for running special full pages to acknowledge our membership drive and advertise our newest members, for sponsoring new members and for being a wonderful friend to the Chamber in many ways.
Imagemaker Associates for developing “ Brick Clicks ,” our fabulous new electronic newsletter. We've been hearing that many of you think that, in addition to being attractive, it is also easy to read, easy to use and is full of useful information. Thank you Carol Meaney, Michael Bellina and the entire creative crew.
Single Throw, Inc. for helping us to keep our website updated with timely information for our members and the community. Also for tracking what works, so that we can continue to keep it viable and successful.
Scott Milne and APV Electronics. Whenever our computers “hiccup,” “Dr.” Scott and his team have the know-how to make them healthy again.
Holger Skurbe of H.E.S. Electronics. We can't imagine functioning without our phones and Holger makes sure that we don't have to!
- We Make Business Happen…A Few Words From Our Members
“Please accept my thanks for the wonderful work that you do on my behalf. Marketing for a new business is a challenge, and the Chamber's programs have been very helpful in getting the word out for us. You and the staff go the extra measure, and I appreciate it.”
Al McDaniel, The UPS Store
“Because of a networking luncheon a few years ago, I got to see Leisure Park Sunrise Living, and my family just moved my mom there to their independent living section. The facility is fabulous and At Home Senior Care too. With grateful thanks to the Brick Chamber for helping our family to find a new home for mom.”
Sincerely,
Mary Ann Umbrino
