Census 2010

 

As you know many of the programs that help the residents in our community are funded on a population formula.  The census also helps the local business community in creating marketing plans and other activities.  So it is important that we do everything we can to help the Census count every person in our area.

 

Currently enumerators are in the area confirming addresses for the mailing of census forms next year.  Under no circumstances should the enumerators be asking people for their bank account information or social security numbers.

 

Should you question the validity of an enumerator please note that all enumerators should have a census ID badge and most likely a hand-held computer.   If possible get the individuals name and number from the ID badge and confirm legitimacy by calling toll free 877-348-9277.

 

The Census Bureau advises that if someone identifies themselves as an enumerator, but without proper ID or acts in a suspicious manner, please advise the local police department.
